Been little while since I wrote last so I thought i would combine a few of the last events into one longer post.
Well, after a few weeks away from the line, I played our local fundraising tourney a few weeks ago.. It was a tough day. The format was Chicago. There were two divisions of nine players and Jim Long, Jamie Hind, and a few other good local guys were in my group. We had to diddle every game with the winner to start with the game of his choice…
When I won the diddles I started with cricket, since I’m pretty good at it. Over all, I finished 9th out of 18 and, considering the caliber of my group, I felt pretty good about it. Jim Long was my toughest opponent; I was in each game but never really close enough to win. I guess that’s why he’s a good as he is, right? I did skunk a few guys, which I felt pretty good about too! Several of the guys congratulated me for the way I played, especially for my cricket play, and for being able to score as well as I did. This was a real confidence booster, that’s for sure. Thanks guys!
I didn’t hit any 180s this time but the 140s and 135s were there all day. In one game I hit ton, ton, ton, 85, 85, then s1-d15 to take the game in 17 darts. Not a bad average!
I didn’t play mixed doubles since I didn’t have a partner, but that’s okay: I was pretty tired by the end of the singles anyway.
I felt good playing with the adults… but beating them was even better! Ha! It was a very good experience for me. I love the challenge of playing them. It boosts my game and, well, it shows them (and me) that I can hang with the best of them.
My focus then turned to Legion Provincials this past weekend. Our team consisted of my self, Mike McGuire, Mike DeGroot and Mike Urquhart. Yep lots of Mikes there…lol ( and get this, my middle name is Michael..)
We went in Seeded first in intermediate doubles since we won the qualifier in Windsor back in march. We had a good draw, we ended up in a playoff and finished third overall. It was a good match up all day and im proud of the way we played. Mike Mcguire, my partner took out 105 for the first game. I did have some great shots, one game I hit T20, T20, then the third dart went into the T20 but flopped out, for some reason my flight had come off the shaft hence the reason it didn’t stick. Oh well, 120 is just as good.
Next we had teams, again it was a good draw, drawing top teams from Durham, Toronto and Dundas. I have played against a lot of these players before so i knew how well they shot.
We lost only one game during the round robins event, ,loosing only to Nic Yen (i played him in doubles at D.O Finals in March) but they also lost one game so we had to have a playoff to see who was going to be seeded First for the Semi Finals. We beat them cleanly and close. Then came the Semi final draw, we ended up drawing the Swansea Team of Nic Again, this time it was for first place best two of three. I took the First game with X16, the second game was much closer, with both teams on a double, many misses but my partners Mike DeGroot did take it out to Finish off Nics team, and to be crowned Provincial Champions.
Im very proud of our team as we all played well, we seemed to feed of each others darts, which made us even better.
This was the first time my partners had ever played the Legion events, so this was even more special to come out Champions.
Theres no tourneys for me to play for a few weeks so, I’m going to start the John Part Black Belt Challenge. That’s where you throw three darts at d1 and if you hit it you go to d2 and so on… but if you miss the double in three darts (no matter how far around the board you’ve gone), you go straight back to the beginning, d1, and have to start over. It’s a very VERY frustrating practice routine but a great doubles game challenge. My best (so far!) is d14. I missed the d15 on the third darts. Grrrr – back to d1!
The next tourney is the Parkhill Outdoor event, Which my dad started three years ago, its a great day of darts, and the weather Really gives darts a challenge, but its a relaxing day and fun day all around.
Anyway, no more time to write and ramble. Gotta get back to the board.
Thanks for reading.
‘Till next time

Btw, I now have a personal editor for these writting’s, Author and good friend of mine Paul Seigel, also known as “Dartoid” from Florida has offered to edit and proof read my writting’s before I submit them, which I think is great he would do this for me.
